Official Apple data
Since July 2026, App Store Connect reports impressions, tap-through, conversion, retention, and revenue for every search term that surfaces your app. AppDrift ingests those official reports with an App Store Connect API key that has the Admin or Sales & Reports role — a two-minute, one-time setup we walk you through — joins them with your tracked ranks and difficulty scores, and flags the search terms Apple credits with installs that you aren't tracking yet. Estimates are ending; this is the source of truth, made actionable.
See how often each search term surfaces your app and how many people tap — Apple's numbers, not a model's guess.
Conversion, retention cohorts, and IAP revenue attributed to the acquisition keyword. Know which terms bring users who stay and pay.
Terms Apple says drove installs that aren't in your tracked list surface automatically — one click adds them.
Own-app data from your App Store Connect account. Apple delivers retention and revenue on a 5–7 day delay with last-click attribution — and difficulty still has to be computed, which is where our live competition scoring comes in.

FAQ
Rankings are updated daily for free. You don't need to spend tokens on daily updates - that happens automatically. You can manually refresh rankings anytime to see current positions, which costs 1 token per refresh.
Difficulty is a 0–100 score computed from the live top-10 results for that keyword: competitor review counts (40%), rating quality (20%), how many titles already contain the keyword (20%), and publisher diversity (20%). Under 30 is Easy, 30–59 Moderate, 60–79 Competitive, and 80+ Very hard. Every tracked keyword shows its difficulty and popularity automatically — it's the same scorer behind our free keyword difficulty checker.
Yes, you can track any keyword in any of 150+ supported countries and regions. You'll see separate rankings for each country since search competition varies by market.
It means your app doesn't rank in the top 200 App Store results for that keyword in the selected country. On Google Play the picture is different: public search only exposes about the top 30 results, so Android keywords outside that window show 'Outside top 30' — your app may still rank deeper, but users can't scroll to it.
Your plan sets the ceiling: 50 tracked keywords on Basic, 500 on Pro, and 1,500 on Studio. Daily rank updates and difficulty/popularity scores are included for every tracked keyword at no token cost; an on-demand same-day refresh costs 1 token per app.
Use ranking data to find high-potential keywords (high popularity, low difficulty), identify competitors' keywords, and monitor progress as you optimize your metadata. Track changes over time to see what's working.

Keyword tracking is the process of monitoring where your app ranks in app store search results for specific keywords. Instead of manually searching for your app on the App Store or Google Play, keyword tracking tools automatically check your rank position for hundreds of keywords across multiple countries.
A keyword tracking tool shows you exact rank positions (#1, #48, etc.), difficulty scores indicating how competitive a keyword is, popularity metrics showing search volume, and trend data showing how your rankings change over time.
Keyword tracking is fundamental to app store optimization (ASO). Without knowing where you rank, you're flying blind. You can't measure the impact of your optimizations, can't identify which keywords are opportunities, and can't understand your competitive position.
Keyword tracking gives you the data needed to make strategic decisions about which keywords to target, when to refresh your metadata, and how your competitors are performing. It's the foundation of any successful ASO program.
Not all keywords are equal. Some are easy to rank for, others are nearly impossible. Difficulty scores (0-100) tell you how competitive a keyword is: under 30 is Easy, 30-59 Moderate, 60-79 Competitive, and 80+ Very hard. A difficulty of 25 means the field is winnable for a new app; a difficulty of 85 means only established apps can rank there. AppDrift shows this score beside every keyword you track, computed from the live top-10 results — the same scorer behind our free keyword difficulty checker.
Popularity scores show how many app store searches happen for each keyword. A popular keyword with high difficulty might not be worth targeting. A less popular keyword with low difficulty could be a quick win. The best keywords balance achievable difficulty with meaningful popularity.
If your app operates in multiple countries, you need multi-country keyword tracking. Rank positions vary dramatically by region. You might rank #5 for a keyword in the US but #200+ in Germany. Search volume and competition differ by market.
Tracking keywords across 150+ countries reveals market-specific opportunities. You can tailor your keyword strategy per region, identify underperforming markets, and prioritize localization efforts. Global apps need global keyword visibility.
