Definition
Locale
A locale is a specific combination of language and region (e.g., en-US, pt-BR, zh-TW) that determines how your app metadata is displayed in a particular market.
A locale defines both the language and the regional variant for your app listing. For example, pt-BR (Brazilian Portuguese) differs significantly from pt-PT (European Portuguese) in vocabulary, spelling, and cultural context.
Both Apple and Google support dozens of locales, and optimizing for each one independently can capture search traffic that generic translations miss. Some locales share a language but require different keyword strategies.

Metadata Translation
Metadata translation is the process of translating your app store listing (title, description, keywords, screenshots) into other languages to capture international search traffic.
