The rules this tool checks
App Store Connect accepts one to ten JPEG or PNG screenshots per display size, and states that images can’t include alpha channels or transparencies. A PNG exported from a design tool or a browser often carries an alpha channel even when nothing in it is transparent — a common reason an upload fails with no visible problem. Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha, between 320 and 3840 pixels per side, with the longer side at most twice the shorter.
Store rules were checked on September 24, 2026 against Apple’s screenshot specifications and Google Play’s preview asset requirements. What screenshot sizes does the App Store accept?
For iPhone, the 6.9-inch sizes are 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736 pixels; the 6.5-inch sizes are 1284 × 2778 and 1242 × 2688. An iPhone app needs 6.9-inch screenshots, or 6.5-inch ones if 6.9-inch aren't provided, and App Store Connect scales them for smaller iPhones. An iPad app also needs 13-inch screenshots: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. Landscape versions of these sizes are accepted too.
Why does App Store Connect reject my screenshots?
The usual reasons are dimensions that don't match an accepted size exactly, an alpha channel or transparency in a PNG, and an unsupported file type. Apple accepts JPEG and PNG, one to ten screenshots per size, and states that images can't include alpha channels or transparencies. The resizer checks all three, and its PNG files are written without an alpha channel.
What are Google Play's screenshot requirements?
JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha, at least 320 pixels and at most 3840 pixels on each side, with the longer side no more than twice the shorter one. That last rule catches many phone screenshots: a 1080 × 2340 capture is taller than 2:1. For promotion and recommendations, Google asks for at least four phone screenshots of 1080 pixels or more in 9:16 portrait or 16:9 landscape.
Should I choose fit or fill?
Fit keeps the whole screenshot and fills the leftover space with a colour or a blurred copy, which is best when the proportions differ only slightly — for example resizing an iPhone 14 capture to 6.9-inch. Fill scales the screenshot to cover the new size and crops the edges; choose where it anchors so status bars or buttons aren't cut off.
Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?
No. Checking, resizing and zipping happen in your browser. The files never reach AppDrift's servers, so you can use the tool with unreleased designs.
Will resizing make screenshots blurry?
Scaling down keeps them sharp. Scaling up by more than about 10 percent can soften text, and the tool warns when that happens. For the crispest result, capture on the largest simulator — for iPhone, a 6.9-inch device such as iPhone 17 Pro Max gives 1320 × 2868 directly.
