Screenshot best practices
Always use PNG or JPEG format. App Store requires either; Google Play accepts both plus WEBP.
Design screenshots at the exact required resolution. Upscaling causes blurriness and can lead to rejection.
Use your first two screenshots to show your app’s most compelling features. Most users never scroll past the third.
Include localized text overlays for every market. Translated screenshots can increase conversions by 20-30%.
Keep UI text readable at all display sizes. Test your screenshots on actual device previews before submitting.
Use a consistent visual theme across all screenshot slots to build trust and brand recognition.

App Store and Google Play Screenshot Dimensions
Getting screenshot sizes wrong is one of the most common reasons for app store submission delays. Both Apple and Google enforce strict pixel dimension requirements, and they differ by device type, platform, and orientation. This page gives you every required dimension in one place so you never have to search for them again.
For the Apple App Store, the most critical size in 2026 is the iPhone 6.9" at 1320 x 2868 pixels — this is now required for all new submissions. You will also need assets for the iPhone 6.7" (1290 x 2796), iPhone 6.5" (1284 x 2778), and iPhone 5.5" (1242 x 2208). iPad submissions require 13" Pro (2064 x 2752) and 12.9" Pro (2048 x 2732) sizes. Apple allows up to 10 screenshots per device per locale.
For Google Play, the recommended phone screenshot size is 1080 x 1920 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Tablet screenshots should be 1200 x 1920 for 10" devices. Google allows up to 8 screenshots per device type. Unlike Apple, Google also accepts WEBP format in addition to PNG and JPEG.
Designing screenshots at the correct resolution from the start saves time and prevents the quality loss that comes from upscaling. If you want to skip the manual sizing entirely, the AppDrift Screenshot Generator handles every device size automatically — design once and export to all required resolutions with a single click.
